The companies we represent:

A selection of specialist manufacturers offering technologies for the characterisation of materials.

We have recently comprehensively reviewed these and increased the range of products we offer.
But there is a constant, these companies are all technical leaders, innovators that invest heavily in development, research and new products. We hope you will find the new products of as much value as the ones you know well. We will continue the search for innovative instruments, as will our principles who launch updated and new systems.

     Malvern Instruments

Malvern Instruments were founded in the 1960's in Malvern, England and shortly after licenced technology to correlate signals; facilitating the very first electronic analysers for use in particulate system characterisation. This grew with new in house technology and market demands for particle sizing to the best known name in our business.

They have direct offices in  major countries and distributors worldwide.
We have represented Malvern since 1989 and before that worked with them since 1984.
They are part of Spectris PLC alongside companies like Panalytical, NDC and PMS.
Their market is Material Characterisation with a strong presence in particle sizing.

Malvern's famous brands include the Mastersizer, Zetasizer, Morphologi, Insitec, Kinexus and Viscotek and to many scientists their web resources are the gold standard.

Micromeritics are owned by the founder's families, member of which also administer the company.
They coined the name Micromeritics from the Greek meaning the measurement of particles.
Their brands include Sedigraph, Saturn, Gemini, Tri-Star, Elzone and models ASAP, the Accupyc and the Flowsorb. They recently established the Particulate brand to offer products sourced outside their factory - for niche markets and needs.

      Formulaction

Founded in 1994 by Gérard Meunier in Toulouse in south west France, Formulaction take advantage of the local infrastructure in engineering surrounding Airbus and aviation.

Formulaction have offices in USA and elsewhere deal through agents and distributors.
Particular Science represents Formulaction since 2007 and are increasingly active with the range.

The first product MA1000 allowed formulation chemists to assess the stability of complex systems.
The original concept was proposed in 1983 by
Professor Brothorel.
They have since developed a range of Turbiscan instruments, the Horus for film drying and recently introduced the Rheolaser for DWS microRheology and characterising materials at rest.

     Remspec

Remspec was founded by Dr. Peter Melling and Dr. Mary Thomson in 1993 .
They pioneered the application of infrared fiberoptic technology to in-situ chemical reactions, studying human tissue and solid surfaces.

This was based on work in 1990 at Galileo Electro-Optics; resulting in US patents and Remspec has developed the technology in the decades following.

Remspec started with simple probes and accessory systems and grew to fully integrated turnkey systems optimised for the reaction monitoring customer.
They now offer an unmatched range of temperature, pressure and wavelength performance from their base
in Charlton, Massachusetts, close to Boston and its well known technical centres.

     Microfluidics Corporation

Microfluidics Corporation in 1983 introduced a unique technology for particle size reduction in a flowing system. They are in Newton, Boston, Mass. availing of the technical infrastructure of the  area. They have a base in Lampertheim near Frankfurt with a team of specialists and engineers ready to support customers worldwide.

Microfluidics offer high shear particle reduction technology will be an ideal match with our expertise in measuring Nano particles in suspension. Many customers size reduce by milling or classic homogeniser systems. This offers a different approach, one that is scalable to process levels.

Their newest technology is MRT, a system that reacts two fluid streams under pressure and shear; to limit the size of any resulting crystals.

  Sequoia Scientific

Sequoia Scientific began operations in 1995 and are now based in Seattle (WA) in the USA.
Their mission is to develop scientific instruments for research of and into environmental monitoring.

Sequoia deal through some agents worldwide, with most business in the US with government contracts and research associations.

They produce unique instruments, not just splash proof or watertight; but submersible in some cases down to 6000m.
Their most recent accolade is an instruction by the EPA that their LISST product MUST be used to monitor the dispersion of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico...following the BP drilling rig accident and disastrous leak of oil.

AstraNet Systems

AstraNet Systems is a specialist supplier of UV Visible spectrophotometers for laboratory, industrial or process control.

Based in Newton, Cambridge England their products have found application right round the world.

Their expertise in ultra-violet, visible, near infrared and short wave infrared spectrophotometers, fluorimeters, radiometers and reflectance probes based around fibre-optic-coupled CCD-array (FOC-CCDA) technology, leads to effective and robust solutions to numerous applications.

The product that attracted our interest first was the novel
AstraGene that can test the concentration and purity of DNA samples (2
microlitres inside a disposable pipette). For a video of AstraGene in a working lab follow this link.

 Izon

Izon are an innovative company from New Zealand who specialise in nanotechnology measurements.

The basis of Izon’s instrumentation is a unique - a dynamically tunable nanopore technology platform which utilises a technology called SIOS (Scanning Ion Occlusion Sensing). This technology platform is world-leading in offering an affordable, robust and highly flexible technology for real-time particle detection, quantitation and characterisation of individual particles at the nanoscale, across a wide range of applications. These applications include sizing, size distribution measurement, concentration analysis and real-time particle-particle interaction monitoring.

The plastic device in the photo has a 0.100 micron pore in the centre of the circular area and this is stretched  between the precision clamps of QNano system to wider diameters as required.

Like most technologies Particular Sciences offer, we have a demonstration and sample evalutaion capability...so if you would like to size and or count nano particles in suspension...let us try it for you.
